The Frank Harr Foundation has been established to keep the un-dying spirit of Frank Harr alive and put Wilmington, NC on the map as a center of social justice.  We will educate the public on matters concerning the LGBTQ community, to impart a sense of unity, equality, and acceptance.  We will encourage the LGBTQ community step out of its comfort level to speak its truths and act as catalysts to help bring about the needed change. By forming strategic partnerships with businesses, nonprofits, organizations, and individuals, we open ourselves to the truth that ALL FAMILIES MATTER! To ensure the success of our mission, we will utilize "edutainment"*, workshops, seminars, scholarships and awards to make the connection and deliver the message.

Frank Harr said it best. We must educate in order to inform. Throughout the year, The Foundation will hold educational seminars and workshops all tailored to a specific issue or subject matter that is directly related to the LGBT community. Such as: health, financial, family, legal, social, and personal well-being. We will look at real-life situations like,“What are my rights when my partner is in the hospital?” or “I have a gay child. What’s next?” Providing informative answers to such tough everyday situations will bring about the awareness needed to make a change in the way we view same-sex orientation and sexual identity.  The Foundation will reach out and support outside events and efforts that bring positive light to our global communities. We feel it is crucial for the members of The Foundation to reach beyond our own comfort levels and become catalysts for change. Each year Family Fest will be the “coming out” event of the year and will allow people of all communities the chance to celebrate our differences. We must keep alive Frank Harr’s legacy by delivering the message that ALL FAMILIES MATTER!

Who We Are

We hope you join with us as we celebrate the life of Frank Harr, friend, partner, & advocate for equality and justice for the LGBTQ community. As Frank Harr's living legacy, the Foundation delivers the message that ALL FAMILIES MATTER and breathes new hope and light in the fight for equality and justice for all. The mission? To eradicate fear, confusion, isolation and social stigma that surround sexual orientation and sexual identity. Frank's mantra was to "educate the people" realizing that doing this reduces unneccessary misundertanding and hatred. As a support to the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, & Questioning (LGBTQ) community, The Frank Harr Foundation provides educational resources that bring awareness to issues that effect health, financial, family, social, and personal well-being.

Join us September 30-October 2 for Family Fest 2011, our 3rd annual 3 Day event that brings together our communities for educational and social events that focus on a spcific issue concerning the LGBT community. Your involvement in Family Fest is so important because 100% of the net profits will go to educational resources. Show your community your belief that all families really do matter and help us continue the un-dying mission of Frank Harr.
